Nice Weather

I had to drive to Centralia for my night class final presentation tonight (Monday) in this awful mess! In the middle of our presentations, the security guard on campus interrupted to inform us that Kaskaskia was closing the campus at 7:00. They let us finish our presentations since we were already there and in the mess. But I didn't get to leave until 8:00 and got home around 9:20. I couldn't see any lines on the roads...fun drive!

Are we done yet?

The crew was working on soffit today. Hopefully we'll have siding soon. It was too cold last week to work on the exterior, so they have been working on patching up the drywall in the main house. It had some cracks from transport and settling. Our garage doors were delivered this week, but they were too small...oops! We ordered large garage doors to hold Matt's large company truck.

Here is a view of the living room and front door.

This is a view of the staircase leading from the back of the living room into the basement. The staircase and utility room were built on site which is why the drywall isn't completed (FYI: The boards across the stairwell are what the crew is using for scaffolding).

Logan's room...it will be blue, his favorite color.

This is the master bedroom. View of the hallway and the closed closet door. My Dad painted this first room today!
The master bathroom...lots of storage and my own sink!!!
Our mailbox is up...I'm ready to move!

Updated Construction Pictures...

Putting the trusses on the garage.
Putting the stuff on the roof that goes down before the shingles ( I don't know the right words). I hear we are getting shingles on the whole project Friday.

This picture is from today (Thursday). The concrete porch has been poured and the porch is built. I haven't been to the house in a couple of days to see for myself, though. These pictures are courtesy of my parents.
Water, electricity and gas are all hooked up to the house. I think the heating and A/C people are finishing up Friday so that we can start heating the house and getting the humidity out of there. Once the humidity is out, the drywall can be fixed in the places it has cracked in transit and during settling. Our kitchen cabinets are in and ready to be installed as soon as the drywall has been fixed and re-painted. The house has been painted once at the factory an antique white, but we plan on putting some color and tan on the walls.

Jan 2, 2009 - Starting on Garage & Utility Room

I don't have great pics on my camera. It was pretty dark. I'll try to get better pics from Matt's or my parents' camera up soon.

Behind the backhoe is the start of the garage and the utility room/staircase room connecting the garage to the house.

The garage already has trusses and a roof on it. I just don't have the pictures yet.
